Harrow celebrates after scooping major award
THE Harrow pub in Aylesbury is celebrating after winning a prestigious award at a ceremony in Oxford last week.
Landlords Greig and Karman Amos beat 850 other pubs to land the Regional Winner in Drinks Experience in the 2008 Punch Taverns Shire Award.
The award acknowledges the presentation of the beers behind the bar and the atmosphere within the pub, together with the range of real ales and world beers available, and the freshly made food. The couple won a 500 experience voucher, which they say they will probably use to go to Paris.
Mr Amos, 30, said: "We were sat with all the top bods and we got through to the last three. When they called us out it was quite funny and quite scary."
Mrs Amos, 31, added that one of the biggest selling points for the pub was its live music scene. "We are really pushing the bands," she said.
"They are all local originals, not covers, trying to get their music heard out in the town. It gets people into the pub and gets them exposure."
In September the Harrow is hosting a beer and band festival in aid of Chiltern Air Ambulance.
