Cabinet reshuffle means new HS2 queries

HS2 campaigners are eagerly awaiting what view new Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin will take on the controversial scheme.
Having been appointed in place of the departed Justine Greening by David Cameron, campaigners are queuing up to speak to Mr McLoughlin.
Director for HS2 Action Alliance, Hilary Wharf, said: “We are hoping it can signal a new start for HS2. He comes from a part of the UK which values the countryside.
“It’s going to be very interesting.”
Transport minister Theresa Villiers was also replaced by MP Simon Burns.
However, Mrs Wharf was unsure as to whether this meant this was a sign of change or that the government is comfortable with its current plans.
