Business is blooming ...

A NEW flower shop has opened in Winslow and trade is already swift.

Jessica Rose, at 20 High Street, is named after its owner, 28-year-old Jessica Rose Durbin.

The shop used to be a florist's owned by Teresa Godfrey but has been closed until now for about a year and a half.

Miss Durbin's mum, Beverley, also has a shop on High Street called number eight and Miss Durbin says she has been a great support for the new business.

She said: "I am a textile designer by trade and my mum's always been a keen gardner so she's encouraged me to have an interest in flowers.

"I approached Teresa and asked her about reopening and getting her to train me, but we did it the other way round and I opened it but she helps me from time to time with her experience and expert advice."

Miss Durbin is a keen sailor so hopes she can draw design influences from her travels in Thailand, Australia and Turkey where she went travelling for two years.

She added that the florists has already proved quite popular in the town: "Trade has been absolutely brilliant. I had a figure in my head that I would like to make, but it's done much better than that.

"People were booking up for Valentine's Day and there's a limit to how much I can get done so I might have to turn people away because I'm just so busy.

"It's also looking like it could be the same for Mother's Day."
