A company which provides lighting for air traffic control centres is flying high in the customer service ranks.

Serious Readers, which is based in Bierton, also provides ingenious lighting equipment for a range of services including RNLI lifeboats, laboratories, ambulance control centres and tanks.

And the firm, which for the past eight years has also made a range of reading lights for the elderly, has achieved a near perfect 99 per cent for customer service from independent feedback company Feefo.

Alex Pratt, who founded the firm 30 years ago, said: “We believe that genuine customer service is the difference between success and failure in the modern world.

“We are just ordinary local people trying to do an extraordinary job at building the best reading lights money can buy.

“We are delighted to be recognised in this way.”

Feefo, an independent customer feedback company, recently launched a trusted merchant certificate.

The prestigious accolade is only given to businesses which achieve more than 85 per cent positive feedback from customers over a full year.

But for the few firms like Serious Readers, which score 95 per cent or higher, Feefo awards a gold trusted merchant certificate.

Andrew Mabbutt, CEO of Feefo, said: “On behalf of Feefo, I am delighted to recognise the serious excellence in customer service with our inaugural gold trusted merchant award.

“Through your use of Feefo, we have been able to aggregate your service rating over 2013 and are delighted to recognise your result of 99 per cent.”
