Pupils at two Aylesbury schools will be seen as the darker nights draw in, after receiving high-visibility vests from local housebuilder Barratt Homes.

The developer has donated 60 brightly coloured vests to Broughton Junior School and Bierton Combined School, which neighbour its new Kingsbrook development, to support International Walk to School Month.

Broughton pupils are pictured modelling the vests. School’s spokesman Joe Hyde said: “We believe that, whenever possible, walking to school is important and we try to encourage as many of our pupils to do so in a safe and sensible fashion. By increasing physical activity every day, not only is it benefiting the pupils’ health, they have the opportunity to burn off some energy before the school day begins and we can also reduce traffic outside the school gates.”
