A pupil was airlifted to hospital yesterday after a ‘horseplay’ incident at Mandeville School.

The incident happened during lunchbreak, and the boy slipped while playing in some water.

An ambulance was called by staff, and the crew thought it best to call the air ambulance which took the boy to John Radcliffe Hospital.

The air ambulance landed on playing fields at the Ellen Road school.

He has since made a full recovery, and returned to classes today.

A spokesman for the school said that all proceedures were followed when the incident occured.
