Customers who voted a bus driver as the best in the country will be sad to learn she is moving routes – but passengers in Aylesbury will see her on a bus near them soon.

Zek Mustafa, 48, from Aylesbury is currently a driver on the Arriva 120 and 121 services from Thame to Princes Risborough, the 123 from Thame to Towersey and the 124 from Thame to Watlington.

Ms Mustafa was nominated as a Bus Superhero by her passengers and named the winner at the Arriva Made a Difference awards.

She said: “I am over the moon because I have never won anything before!

“When I say ‘good morning’ and ‘how are you?’ to passengers when they step on my bus, those that don’t know me are pleasantly surprised.

“I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me.”

Now it’s likely that Ms Mustafa will be working routes in and around the Aylesbury area, as the Thame routes will soon no longer be under Arriva.

An Arriva spokesman said: “We were delighted that our customers felt strongly enough to vote for Zek.

“The services she was driving at the time of nominations will no longer operated by Arriva from May following a tender process.

“We are now arranging new duties of work for our drivers and it is likely that Zek will be on routes around Aylesbury.”
