Aylesbury police officers commended at awards ceremony

POLICE officers from Aylesbury and members of the public were commended for their 'outstanding contributions' at an awards ceremony last night (Wednesday).

Several officers received commendations from a 41-strong field of police officers and staff nominated from across Buckinghamshire Basic Command Unit.

Together with members of the public, the officers received honours at an awards ceremony at the Kings Centre in Desborough Road, High Wycombe.

Amoung the Aylesbury officers commended included:

PC Lucy Boddington, for her tenacity and composure while arresting a violent and intoxicated offender.

PC Teri Howes, for her courage, action and determination in dealing with three volatile offenders. Her actions were in the best traditions of the service.

PC Alex Bell, for his determination and initiative in finding a suicidal missing person who had driven to a remote location and had taken an overdose. His prompt actions at the scene saved the man's life.

PC Lindsey Meeks, for her professionalism and dedication in investigating a difficult case of disorderly behaviour and securing an Anti-Social Behaviour Order on one of the most notorious offenders within the community. Her work will have a significant effect on controlling the woman's behaviour and restoring order in the community in which she lives.

PC Derek Burns, for his courage and professionalism in dealing with a violent and aggressive man he arrested in the act of committing an offence of burglary.
