Arrests made over cinema fire in Aylesbury

Two people have been arrested following a suspected arson at the old Odeon cinema in Aylesbury on Thursday evening.

A police spokeswoman said a 26 year old man from Aylesbury and an 18 year old woman from Leighton Buzzard have been arrested on suspicion of arson.

They have been bailed until September 15.

More than 30 firefighters attended the blaze in Cambridge Street, which damaged around 10 per cent of the ground floor of the former art deco cinema.

Sainsburys already has planning permission to demolish the cinema to make way for a new superstore.
