Three people were killed in a car crash in Ludgershall on Sunday evening.
The crash happened around 6.40pm on the A41 Bicester Road at the turning for Ludgershall and Brill near Aylesbury.

A silver Toyota Corolla, travelling in the direction of Bicester, and a red Hyundai Coupe, travelling in the opposite direction, collided.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 28-year-old man from Chipping Norton, and the driver and front-seat passenger of the Toyota, a 79-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman respectively, both from Brackley, were all declared dead at the scene.

A woman passenger of the Hyundai was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries, and two children in the same vehicle, a boy and a girl, were taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed until just before 11.30pm.

Three ambulances and one air ambulance attended the scene, along with two fire engines and a number of police officers.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

If anyone has information which could help police with their enquiries please contact PC Darren Carnell, Aylesbury Roads Policing Dept on 08458 505 505.

Isn't it about time we had compulsory fitting of vehicle black box dash cams to all vehicles?
Mine cost me a little over £200 but has already proven useful & saved me my insurance excess of £600 by showing exactly what happened immediately before the other driver cut me up, damaging the offside front end of my car. He claimed I was at fault, I claimed he was at fault. Without witnesses our insurers were going to say 50/50.
But my camera showed exactly where I was AND what speed I was doing.
Indisputable evidence.
And yet, despite having just saved them over £2000, I am not able to negotiate further discounts from my insurance company.

My deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones.

It is about time that the A41 was made 50 mph (as they have done with the A418 Aylesbury to Thame Road) with the most dangerous sections being double white lines, or even speed cameras / average speed cameras placed along the road. The road has become more of a hazard over the years.

My first thoughts are with the families of the victims......

And your first thoughts JR?

I travel daily along this road, and am apalled at the speeds people drive at, there should either be more speed cameras along this road or other measures put in place. This is a straight stretch of road where the accident happened I dont understand how 2 cars can just collide.

Accidents can and will happen on pieces of straight road and these can be caused by a number of reasons. I don't know the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident but a number of scenarios spring to mind that could cause an accident on a straight road. Such as mechanical error e.g a tyre blow-out or possibly an overtaking incident. One of the drivers could have inadvertently swerved at the last minute due to trying to avoid something we may never be aware of.
We have to remember this accident may have had nothing to do with the speed of the traffic along the road and could have been caused by something completely different.
That being said the A41 is notorious for accidents and needs to be examined better to minimise the chance of collisions in the future.

I was travelling from Ludgershall to the Bicester Road that day, I arrived just after the accident happened. My thoughts go to the families who lost their loved ones.

But agreed that road is a death trap!

yes accidents do happen. but surely anyone driving with passengers two of which are children should take more care ! I have been driving many years never had a tyre blow on me. Again no responsibility. People drive nowadays with little regard to others. Maybe if people took more care of their vehicles i.e tyre that was badly worn and about to blow would be spotted and took more notice of others on the road then a collision at nearly 7pm on a sunday night on a straight road with warnings that a junction is ahead would not happen

Begamo, just because the first thing I type isn't the usual platitudes... I notice in post #5 you don't ask the poster at #4 about their first thoughts!

I drive this road every day & most of the accidents I come across are usually where someone pulls out of a side road without taking account of the speed of oncoming traffic - so a car ends up going into the back or side - but in this instance, did one car try to pull out across the path of the other?

You are all going on about how can an accident happen on a straight bit of road and all presuming they were both speeding. Maybe one of the drivers was ill, you know, heart attack or stroke or something. Even if they were both doing just 50 miles an hour thats still an impact speed of 100 miles an hour, head on that would be fatal. The way some of you are talking one wonders how safe you all are on the road!
