Rose lovers welcome in Winslow today

A TALK on roses by a BBC gardener of the year is one of several events happening across the Vale today (Saturday)
Events on today include:

GARDENS: The Hardy Plant Society, Bucks And Oxon Group presents a talk on Roses by Edwin Rye.

He won the BBC Gardener of the Year Competition in 2002 and since then has given lots of talks to local gardening groups.

Edwin's garden, a traditional English garden featuring David Austin roses and delphiniums, is open for charity under the NGS yellow book scheme.

The meeting starts at 2.15 pm and will be held at the Winslow Centre, Park Road, Winslow. Visitors very welcome (£2). Further details from Paul Radcliffe on 01280 813352.

CRAFTS: Art and Craft Market at Ellesborough Village Hall, Butlers Cross. 10am to 4pm.

Handmade books, Shaker boxes, jewellery, alpaca hand knits and much more.

£1 entrance revenue to Carers Bucks.

NEEDLEWORK: The Aylesbury Vale Embroiderers' Guild meets on the third Saturday of the month at Stoke Mandeville Methodist Church, Eskdale Road, Stoke Mandeville at 2.30pm. Today Kathleen Laurel Sage will be giving a talk entitled Extravorganza!

The charge is £4 for visitors, £2.50 for members and £1 for students. For more information contact Monica Raper on 01844 275930.

MARKET: Tetsworth Farmers' Market, held every 3rd Sat of the month at Tetsworth Village Hall, Just off the A40, 9.30am to12.30pm. BBq and refreshments available. Stalls including; organic vegetables, pork, organic beef & lamb, traditional poultry, game, organic breads, cakes and puddings, honey, preserves, quality homemade meal solutions, eggs, cheese and plants.

PLANTS: Annual Plant Sale at The Ark, 28 Risborough Rd., Stoke Mandeville, from 10am to 1pm. Raffle, cake stall, bric-a-brac, books and plants. Please come and support us at this our main fundraising event of the year.

The Ark is the benefice centre for Stoke Mandeville Church, The Kimbles and Ellesborough.
