Pitstone incident a 'new one' for Aylesbury firefighters

AYLESBURY firefighters were called to a rather unusual incident in Pitstone last night (Monday).
At 9.30pm they attended to a bungalow in Yardley Avenue, after it occupiers- an elderly couple- began smelling smoke.

Firefighters discovered the source of the smell was coming from the kitchen.

A cigarette had been put out in the sink and had charred the handle of a plastic knife.

Watch manager Steve Brooks said: "It was a new one for me."

Earlier, at 7.30pm, firefighters attended a rubbish fire in a derelict garage in Grafton Road, Aylesbury.

Arson is suspected.
