DAYLA, the Aylesbury-based drinks company, unveiled its plans for a residential scheme on its current High Street premises last night.
The money made from turning its town centre base into new homes will allow the growing drinks wholesaler to move to bigger and better premises elsewhere in the Vale.

During a presentation before Aylesbury Town Council's planning committee yesterday (Monday), architect Kiran Curtis and chartered surveyor Malcolm Crouch put forward their proposal for a residential scheme comprising 39 new homes.

Five of these will be three-bedroom houses, and the rest a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom flats.

Mr Curtis said: "One of the issues at the moment is there's quite a lot of goods vehicles going in and out. It really is not the most ideal spot for any kind of large industrial distribution centre.

"There is a real chance to do something of quality that would really complement the area and be an asset in the future."

Local residents who come along to the presentation did raise concerns over their potential loss of privacy resulting from the scheme, but there were no objections to the overall scheme.

Aylesbury Vale District Council's Development Control Committee will consider the planning application at a later date.

Mr Crouch said Dayla was hoping to have built new premises somewhere in the Vale within two-and-half-years.

At that stage the new residential scheme could be built on its old home.

What do you think of the scheme?
