A DRIVE to recruit local foster carers is being launched this week as part of a UK-wide campaign fortnight.
The campaign by Buckinghamshire County Council encourages people to realise that they may already share the same qualities as those currently fostering, such as a good sense of humour, being optimistic, having your feet firmly on the ground and showing resilience.

Lin Hazell, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: "In Buckinghamshire, it is essential that more people think about fostering and put themselves forward, as there is currently a shortage of carers. Foster carers have a vital role to play in giving children in care the best possible start in life.

"With more carers, we will be able to keep siblings together and place more children within the county, where they can stay in the same school and remain in contact with their families and friends.

"I would urge anyone interested in making a difference to a vulnerable child's life to consider fostering."

If you would like to find out more information about fostering in Buckinghamshire, a campaign stand will be at The Vintage Care Rally, Aston Clinton, Sunday 18th May, 10am – 5pm.
