A GROUP of women from Chearsley are launching a daring calendar in memory of a friend who died from cancer last year.
The calendar features the ladies photographed almost naked with only props - recognising the favourite items and pastimes of their friend Jackie Brown - to cover their modesty. All proceeds will raise money for The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, which is the hospice in which Jackie spent her last hours.

Jacqueline Mary Brown, wife of Nic Brown and Mum to Alex, 24, Danny, 22, and Nico, 19, successfully fought breast cancer in 2000. She then enjoyed seven years of life cancer free and made the most of every moment.

She was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer in April 2007 and despite a huge fight lost the battle in October last year. Jackie was cared for in The Florence Nightingale Hospice at Stoke Mandeville Hospice.

The brave ladies are all over 35 years of age and mothers and/or career women.

Gilly Travers (Ms March), who led the calendar project, said the ladies' origins vary from being born and bred in Chearsley, through to Iran, America and Australia and revealed one of them was eight months pregnant at the time of the photoshoot. She says she's sure Jackie would have found the calendar daring and funny.

The calendar was shot in various locations in the village including School Lane, the village shop, village pub The Bell, the cricket field, the allotments, and fields and gardens around the village. The props include some of Jackie's favourite items and hobbies; shopping, shoes, jewellery, painting, books, cricket teas, sunbathing, sunflowers, opera, scarves, chocolate and Champagne. The photography and graphic design are by Chearsley residents Sharon Sampson and Alicia Howard respectively.

Jackie's husband Nic said he was delighted.

To purchase a calendar email uncovered@chearsley.com, the £10 cost all goes to charity.
