A house near Quarrendon, in the east of Aylesbury, has had much of it's roof completely destroyed after it was struck by lightning during the stormy weather on Saturday evening.
It is not yet known whether anyone was hurt in the incident, which happened in the Savernake area at around 8.30pm on Saturday.

Several large forks of lightning illuminated the skies above the Quarrendon area, near the Weedon Road, before one fork actually struck the roof of the home sending a dusty plume of smoke high into the air. Much of the roof is believed to be completely destroyed after the direct hit caused a roof fire at the property.

A spokesman for Bucks Fire Service said: "There was a roof fire at a house in Savernake and we presume it was a lightning strike."

More to follow.
