£36k kitchen planned for Cuddington
A grant has been handed to the village hall of Cuddington to transform its use in the community.
The environmental group WREN has awarded the committee of the Bernard Hall 36,213 which will go towards fitting a new kitchen extension.
The project, costing 55,000, will bring the kitchen downstairs, making it more practical for community events.
Committee chairman Markus Bolton, said: "This is a big job for us to do and without the grant from WREN we wouldn't be possible.
"It's used for parties and also regular events like the Harvest Supper and the Sunshine Club.
"It's used by quite a lot of theatre groups as well."
The extension, which the committee hopes to start work on this year, will also bring the men's toilets inside.

Mr Bolton said: "The ladies' toilets are inside, but if you have something like a wedding you don't want your guests going outside in the rain to go to the toilet.
"Cuddington has a lovely church and when you look at the hall and the church together it's a great package.
It's a shame the facility has not been quite up to standard.
"Most of the people who use the hall are from the village or within a few miles of the village and I think a lot of that is down to the design of the hall, but these works will make it more attractive to people."
The committee is still about 14,000 short of the amount it needs to start the work.
Mr Bolton said: "Having the WREN grant has broken the back of it, but we have to raise the rest within the next six to eight months.
"We expect to have it built by the end of the year."
The grants made under the Landfill Communities Fund, formally known as the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, look to improve community life by enhancing existing facilities as well as providing new facilities, including play areas, village and church halls, community centres, nature reserves, skate parks and multi use games areas.
Historic and religious buildings can also receive funding for restoration work.
