IT may only be February, but preparations for Thame’s Music in the Park, are well underway.

The event, which was a huge success last year, will take place on Sunday May 13.

Organisers, the Friends of Elms Park and the Music in the Park team, are planning on making this year’s event even bigger and better.

The musical programme is not yet complete but several big names have been confirmed including two bands who have previously played at Glastonbury, the Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band and Dubwiser.

The Rabbit Foot Band will headline the programme and describe their music as ‘sophisticated and energetic; drenched in mid-20th century jazz and R&B’.

Dubwiser are a reggae-dub group.

Other acts already booked include a Led Zeppelin tribute band, an Elton John tribute act, the Muttz Knuttz, As If and Village Voices.

There will also be something for dance fans as street hip hop dancer Sam Hemmings, also known as Boogaloo – overall winner of Thame’s Got Talent 2011 – will be performing.

Dance group Raw Diva, winners of the audience vote at Thame’s Got Talent, are also on the bill.

The programme is being designed to feature something for everyone including acoustic and electric music of all genres and exciting dance acts.

Performers wishing to take part and stallholders and food concessions wishing to have a pitch at Music in the Park can now register their interest on the Music in the Park website.
