Narnia-based rock set for a return
A rock musical based on The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe is making a return after it proved a suprise hit at this month’s Thame Arts and Literature Festival.
The show features 20 original pieces of music composed by former town resident Steve Bannister.
It also boasts a cast of 30, aged nine-75.
It was specially commissioned for this year’s TAL Festival and following its great reaction will now be shown again next month at Lord Williams’s Upper School.
Steve said: “The story just obsessed me ever since I was a child.

“So when I was looking for something to do it was the obvious one because I understood all the characters.”
The famous children’s story by CS Lewis is retold by Steve through song. There are no speaking parts.
“It bounces along, it’s quite lively,” said Steve, who now lives in Oxford.
“Everybody joins in and claps along.

“Everybody tells me they leave singing the tunes in their head.
“It is a bit unusual. It gives it a different sort of feeling and emotion, particularly where you get to the bit where Aslan the lion lays down his life”
The show is directed by Catherine Enticknap and is jointly produced by the TAL Festival and ICP productions.
Steve has been writing rock operas and shows for the past 30 years, which have been staged in Thame and High Wycombe.
It will run from November 1-3 at Lord Williams’s Upper School.
Evening performances start at 7.30pm and there is also a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
