Magical night for classical music
MAGICIAN Jon Ensor will be joining Aylesbury Symphony Orchestra at the Civic Centre at 3.30pm on Sunday to present their Family Concert.
Jon is an expert close-up magician, but is equally at home demonstrating his circus skills.
Founded in 1949, Aylesbury Symphony Orchestra performs three main concert a year, the next being on Sunday March 9, but for some years now have been adding these Family Concerts to their programme.
They are always a great success with children and adults alike and a fantastic introduction to classical music for young people.
This time, the audience is in for a special treat, with Jon performing tricks between ever-popular works such as the Thunder and Lightning Polka, Hoe Down, the Dambusters and Star and Stripes Marches.
However, the main piece will be the Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas, best known as the accompaniment to the scene where Mickey Mouse floods the cellar in Fantasia. The work will be illustrated by dancers from the Claydon Academy.
The orchestra will also be joined by the choir from St Louis Roman Catholic Primary School with their own selection of songs, and in charge of the whole event will be the orchestra's regular conductor, Jacques Cohen.
Tickets for young apprentices, their parents and grandparents are available from the Civic Centre box office on 01296 486009.
