Lots to see and do at Quainton Rail Centre

A fairground horse carousel will be at today’s Bucks Railway Centre grand steam and vintage vehicle rally.

The popular steam operated roundabout with horses which move up and down in time-honoured tradition is appearing for the first time at the rally.

Sixteen full-size and 15 miniature traction engines, 15 commercial vehicles, 33 classic cars and 34 tractors will also be at the event.

Spokeswoman Sheila Lobley said: “A lot of hard work goes into the day. It is our biggest event of the year.

“As soon as one ends we start preparing for the next one. About 20 volunteers will be on duty.

“It is usually very popular so we are expecting a big turn-out.

“September’s normally pretty good and the weather has been kind so far, so that is in our favour.”

The rally on the 25-acre site runs from 10.30am-5.30pm.

A family ticket (two adults and up to four children) costs £27; adults £10; seniors £9; and children £7.
