Heritage talk about preseving Bucks’ churches
The friends of Buckinghamshire’s historic churches are holding a talk at St Mary’s in Haddenham to discuss caring for the county’s churches.
It will be given by Mary Saunders, who spent 20 years protecting church buildings until she retired in 2009.
Event spokesman David Peck said: “Mary was secretary of the Oxford Diocesan Advisory Committee for the care of churches for 20 years before retiring in 2009 and has lived in Buckinghamshire since 1976.
“Before 1989 she worked in the Diocesan Registry for many years and was a member of the council for the care of churches – the national equivalent of the DAC – for 10 years.
“In other words, almost her entire working life has been involved with church buildings in one way or another.”
The talk takes place on Thursday September 12, 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7 and available from Nick Morgan on 01844 291217.
