Director Greg plans an online comedy as he bids for stardom

A former Aylesbury Grammar pupil who caused a stir when he brought two Hollywood actors to film in the town is set to make waves on the internet.

Greg Ash, who now lives in Portland in America, is the writer/director of Super Chill, an online comedy based on the stereotypes of those living in the city.

Greg is making a series of half a dozen seven-minute episodes which he describes as being in the vein of directors such as Kevin Smith and Spike Lee.

In January a large crowd gathered outside Aylesbury’s Tilbury’s butchers to watch actor Julian Glover and comedian Omid Djalili shoot a scene for Greg’s latest short film, Mr Invisible.

Glover is known for appearances in Star Wars and Indiana Jones and Djalili featured in The World Is Not Enough and Sex And The City 2. Filming also took place in Aylesbury’s Comet store and library.

The short film was created by Greg to help get him noticed and it will be shown at film festivals once it is finished later this year.

As well as working on Super Chill, Greg is currently developing three feature-length films through his production company Big Bright Lights – which he plans to showcase at next year’s Cannes Film Festival (and is currently looking for investment and distribution support).

While growing up in Aylesbury Greg directed a number of short films just for fun and he is now the writer, director and one of the two lead actors in Super Chill.

He describes the unusual comedy as ‘playful, at times heartfelt and at other times ridiculous’.

Greg says the story follows ‘two apparent misfits coming together and daring to dream big’.

Familiar faces from across the city, including a local policeman, will be appearing in future episodes – which are being released weekly until the middle of October.

Ahead of the release of episode one, Greg has appeared on US TV to plug the series.

All of the episodes are free to watch, for details visit the website www.superchill.tv
