Choral programme of a high standard in Halton
WENDOVER Choral Society are performing their Summer concert at RAF St Georges' Church at Halton on Saturday starting at 7.30 pm. The Society is pleased to be able to present a wonderful evening of choral music, consisting of Faurés Requiem, Bruckner's motets (Avé Maria, Locust Iste and Ecce Sacerdos) plus the very popular Mozart's Avé Verum Corpus.
Two of the motets, Av Maria and Locus Iste, will sung unaccompanied by the choir, as will Mozart's Av Verum Corpus. The orchestral piece will be Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, played by the Oxford Sinfonia, led by Simon Kodurand. The concert will also have the benefit of the St George's organ being played by Christian Wilson.
As usual the Wendover Choral Society, through its Music Director Peter Bassano, has been able to secure the services not only of excellent musical talent to accompany the evening but also as soloists.
Soprano Natasha Day, who was born in Edinburgh and sang at the 2007 Royal Variety performance, and bass baritone Vojtech Šafarik, a graduate from Prague State Conservatory, will be joining the choir for Faur's Requiem.
Tickets for this concert are only 12, or 10 concessions and 6 for under 16s, and can be obtained from the Clock Tower information centre in Wendover High Street.
