All Simon at Aylesbury's Limelight Theatre on Friday
ALL Simon, a five-piece tribute act to Simon and Garfunkel, appears at the Limelight Theatre on Friday.
The man who plays 'All' Simon in the band, shares his real surname with another 1960s music legend.
"I grew up being asked on a daily basis whether John Lennon was my uncle, and yes I love The Beatles," explains the man in question, Bill Lennon.
"But Simon and Garfunkel and then Paul Simon's solo material have always occupied a very special place in my heart. So, it is a huge honour to take on the name 'All Simon' come performance time."
In addition to Bill on vocals and guitar, the band comprises John Prynn (drums), Dave Birnie (guitar), Massimo Zaramella (bass) and Marc Rapson (keyboards and percussion).
All Simon lovingly and authentically recreate their hero's classic songs, drawing extensively from his partnership with Art Garfunkel (The Boxer, Sounds Of Silence, Mrs Robinson, Cecilia etc), through the Grammy-laden 1970s solo hits (50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Slip Slidin Away) to the 80s smash hit You Can Call Me Al and beyond.
There is even time for a bit of gentle humour too. "Most fans will be aware of the fractious relationship between Simon and Garfunkel over the years," says Bill. "And I think it would be most remiss of us if we didn't exploit that in the interest of getting a cheap laugh!"
