A10 WEEK 35 MCBH rd Elizabeth Adlington CE of Waterside Theatre

Waterside Theatre chief executive Elizabeth Adlington is moving to New Theatre, Oxford, which is also part of the ATG group.

After two years as the public face of the town’s canalside development, she said she always knew there would be an end date to her appointment.

“In the natural cycle of things the person who opens a theatre isn’t always the person who carries it forward,” she said.

“I feel delighted and happy with the amount of ground that was covered.”

She is particularly proud of the productions which visited from National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare and regrets she cannot stay longer.

Her advice to incoming boss Jamie Baskeyfield is: “It’s really important to look at all the cultural and leisure things happening in the area and see what we can offer to compliment and add value to that; and to develop the music programme.”
