THAT'S the view of today's correspondent Carole Ryder
I agree with Elizabeth Kennedy about the lack of physical links with Aylesbury's twin town. The schools do a great job of making a partnership, it is time that we should do our bit too. I think Mr Harrison's suggestion of 'The Bourg Walk' is much more embracing than naming it after an estate or councillor and I am sure Cllr Roberts would agree with me here. Besides, a 'bourg' is a market town and its derivation is in the old word for fortress from which the 'bury' part of Aylesbury comes. So something for us and for our twin town!

I think that naming the new bridge 'the Bourg walk' is a brilliant idea, maybe some upcoming new talent can write a song about it - I suggest 'Under the Bourge walk' as one possible title.

Can I ask why twinning is a good idea?
What, exactly do we get out of it?
I've seen the French market in town - but all that seems to do is get the backs up of local traders (as the French traders seems to get preferential treatment (according to many local traders)).
And I suspect a few of our councillors had some nice jollies from their many visits to France to determine which town should be twinned.
But I really cannot see what Joe public gets out of this deal - Oh, besides having to fork out for all those new signs "Welcome to Aylesbury, twinned with..."
