ROBLIN Close (opposite the Eye Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital) seems to now be the overspill carpark for Stoke Mandeville Hospital workers, visitors and College of Nursing students and staff.
We have an estate car which is parked in our drive most of the day. Today I was unable to get out of my drive because two cars had parked opposite my house and so there was not enough room to turn the car into the road.

During the day we have most of the Close taken up with parked cars, some of which have NHS stickers inside the windows. They park half way on the road and half way on the path at times, which makes walking very difficult; especially with a pram/pushchair. There is a sign in Kynaston Avenue (at the end of our Close) asking visitors to the Hospital not to park there and yet they still park UNDERNEATH the sign!!!

Now I see that the Spinal Injuries Centre have closed their car park and so Roblin Close is used even more as an overspill. When will the Hospital Management do something about their parking facilities???

It seems free speech isnt allowed anymore as my 1st comment was removed!

Anyway all I said was that as car owners pay road tax namely ROAD tax so they can park where they like if there are no restrictions!

It is not the drivers fault if they park where these people do not like it after all they are parking legally and that is allowed.

Also if the home owners can not get out of their drive then they should call the Police as the cars would be ilegally parked.

The bottom line is the home owners made the choice to buy houses within a road with no parking restrictions - live with it!
I wouldnt live next to the airport then complain about the plane noise!!

"as car owners pay road tax namely ROAD tax so they can park where they like if there are no restrictions!"

Oh dear, yet another driver who hasn't read the highway code...

You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.

[Laws RTA 1988, sect 22 & CUR reg 103]

243
DO NOT stop or park
...
in front of an entrance to a property
...
244
You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

[Law GL(GP)A sect 15]

So, that's no parking in front of an entrance to a property and no parking on pavements
-
even if you have road (that's R O A D) tax, these are restrictions and, therefore, people ar parking illegally.

And by the way, why should people keep ringing the police just so they can get their car out of their drives? Don't you think the police have enough to do?
Oh yes, and perhaps the road wasn't being used as an overflow car park when Jan bought her house.
