Over zealous parking measures are putting families off Vale

OUR correspondent J Rennie says families are being put off coming to Aylesbury Vale because of over zealous car parking measures.
MY daughter-in-law took her three young children to the Aqua Vale for the first time, she purchased a 2hr parking ticket (refundable when shown at the cash desk) at the reception desk there was a notice to say the water was colder than normal, she had to queue to get in and queue again for a family changing room when leaving the pool.

When she got to the car park eight minutes late, she found a parking attendant putting a ticket on her windscreen (£25) when she challenged the attendant he said he could have given her a ticket if she had been one minute late.

To add insult to injury it cost my daughter-in-law over £10 to get into the pool and found that not only was the water cold, but the slide (one of the main features of the pool) was out of action too, an expensive day out for only half the amenities.

We have appealed against the ticket but have been unsuccessful. My view is that at least she had a ticket and would have purchased one for a longer period of time if she had known that she had to queue.

I have since been advised that if you use the car park for the play area and the Vale park the parking fee is non refundable. Come to Aylesbury and have a great day out (I don't think).

AVDC need to get their act together and not penalise people for using the facilities. My daughter-in-law will be driving to Bletchley in future where parking is free and the entrance fee is cheaper.
