CORRESPONDENT Alison Spencer has visited the Moscow State Circus and says she was pleasantly surprised
We have just returned from a visit to the Moscow State Circus and we are so pleasantly surprised, we would like to say our piece.

Firstly, what was all the fuss about from the Watermead residents? It made no difference to their lives at all. The appearance of the circus is excellent and should be congratulated on their presentation, not only of the big top, but also their staff, each and everyone of them were superbly presented with manners to match. The parking was only a problem because Watermead residents made it a problem.

The show it's self was beyond excellent. It was amazing and worth every penny spent.

I hope that a few residents of Watermead attended and found the show to be as good as we did.

If I were a Watermead resident I would be ashamed to admit to this. The circus has attracted hundreds of people to your so called "village" and if any of the businesses had used their common sense, could have been involved in the planning and could have capitalised from the whole event, instead they have alianated themselves.

All in all, the circus was spectacular and we can't wait for it to return to Aylesbury in two years time.

I totally agree with Alison. I can not understand the need for people to complain about a circus being on their doorstep for only a short amount of time. People seen to want to moan about anything that may look out of place in their area. Obviously these moaners have nothing better to do with their time.

I am truly heartened by Alison's remarks about the Great Moscow State Circus and want to be the first to say 'I told you so' to the residents of Watermead when I have been saying for months that our event would cause no problems whatsoever to the people living in the village.
I know that the circus still has a couple of days to run at the Watermead site but I would like to echo Alisons remarks that the Watermead businesses should have worked with us to help them capitalize on our event (the left hand washes the right after all). I have been saying for months that we are much happier working with local people than against them.
A good example is the owner of the restaurant behind the site who was against our licence application and who was represented and attended the sub committee licensing hearing on 17 June last, had conditions imposed on our licence (which we complied with) and who subsequently opened up his own car park to our customers and charged them £2.50 per car for the privilege.
I can only ask that as many Aylesbury residents as possible turn out to see the show over the coming weekend to make the stay a viable one and give us reason to return in future years with either The Chinese State Circus (which is equally as good) or with a new production of the Moscow State Circus in a couple of years time, and I hope to hear more positive comments about the circus after it has left the site on Monday.
To those of you who have supported us - Many thanks! To those of you who didn't, that's your choice.
To those of you who didn't know the circus was in town - Don't you read the Bucks Herald?

Why is the curcus having such a problem finding a suitable location?
What is wrong with using the huge site where the county show is held? I've noted one or two other events being held there as well so why not the circus?
Why should we be forced to travel many miles to neighbouring large towns to see this wonderful spectacular just because of a few whingeing NIMBYs?
