CORRESPONDENT Louise Race says her experience of the weekend's festival was spoilt
My family visited the MAD Festival at Waddesdon Manor this weekend as we have done each year since it started. We arrived early to enjoy the lovely weather and settled ourselves on the grass to enjoy our picnic as many, many other families had done. We sat fairly close to the front near to The Dome stage as that was where our child was due to perform. Everyone sitting there enjoyed the wonderful singing by the Holtspur School Choir and then we waited for the Bernwode Infant Festival Choir.
Unfortunately as the Bernwode children came on to the stage a group of about 60 adults moved to the area directly in front of the stage completely blocking the view of ALL the families, many with younger siblings, sitting on the grass who were waiting to see the performance. Instead of moving to the side or sitting down once they had waved to their children these people selfishly remained standing throughout the songs. Shame on these people, their children might have had a great view of them but many of the 6 and 7 year olds on the stage and singing in front of a large audience for the first time were unable to see their families. Shame also on the production staff who didn't have the courage to ask these people to move or sit down before the children started singing.
This was our last visit to MAD.
