If permission is given for an ASDA supermarket to be built on the Stoke Mandeville hospital site, then we will have it confirmed that those at AVDC have become obsessed and experts at squeezing yet another development in any available space which may pop up in an already over-developed, populated and congested area.
Getting in and out of Stoke Mandeville Hospital, be it patient or visitor, is currently extremely difficult. What do the emergency services have to say about all the possible additional traffic and subsequent congestion on a main link road into and out of Aylesbury Town?
I worked at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for about forty years and well remember and enjoyed the lovely green peaceful areas surrounding the wards, as did the patients. Now patients will only have rooftops to look out on, traffic pollution and noise 24/7 and our once famous hospital disappears behind a housing estate and a supermarket which AVDC have decided are 'necessary'
Your reader, (Bucks Herald 23/3) made an excellent suggestion of the old BOCM land where access to a supermarket would be much more acceptable and away from sick and poorly patients and an already huge housing spread.
