THAT's the view of today's correspondent.
Dear editor,

Aylesbury is a lovely town but it is a shame when you see sights like I saw on the way home from the doctors last week.

As I was walking up the lane from the Bicester Road to Stonehaven road, as I got to the end of the lane I was confronted with an eye sore of rubbish left behind by some idiot who has no consideration for any one or anything and its only a matter of time before the rats come or a child hurts them selves on the sharps items mixed in with the rubbish or any other dangerous stuff in there.

Does Aylesbury have a problem with rubbish?

Sadly, this sight is all too common. This view is repeated around many estates in Aylesbury. If these garages are rented then the owner needs to evict whoever is renting them, if they are private then the council needs to serve a notice to the effect that they are dangerous & possibly a health hazard.

A reported huge increase in the rat population is directly linked to the imposition of recycling targets set by Brussels.

Responding to figures showing a 15% rise in vermin infestations. It is pointless blaming local councils for the problem, though they are the ones with the headache. They are forced through the application of the EU Landfill Directive to browbeat taxpayers into accepting fortnightly bin collections.

The Government is impotent and the opposition spokeswoman, Caroline Spelman, obviously doesn't understand the reality of the situation.

As to solving the problem, AVDC can do nothing, the government is pointless and the Conservatives are dishonest. They would have more joy phoning Hamelin and asking to borrow the Pied Piper.

Just as the recent strikes were caused by EU laws, so is this plague of rats.

Isn't it typical that UKIP attempted to absolve individual responsibility by blaming Brussels?!?

Its nothing to do with Brussels, its to do with unthinking, uncaring, ignorant people - so please stop insulting us by attempting to excuse the behaviour of such people.

As for recycling, as everyone knows full well, it is essential for the good of not just Aylesbury, the UK or Europe but for the planet as a whole.

Now please Chris, credit the people who read this web-site with a little intelligence.

Would you prefer the Civic Centre in Aylesbury be demolished to make way for new shops and restaurants as part of the Waterside scheme, or be saved to provide facilities for community events?
