The leisure pool is painfully cold.  The slides are often not working.  The bubble pools are often broken too.  The manager is very unhelpful and unresponsive.  I am cancelling my daughter's lessons due to the freezing pool temperature, which is a real shame as it could be great.  I have been going for 2 years, braving the refurbishment work, the terrible parking facilities (which are now fine), and the poor changing rooms (which again are now fine).

The main pool is excellent and a real swimmers pool – ie not too warm, ideal for doing lengths – the facility is generally pretty clean and pool cleanliness has improved considerably over the past year – My gripe would be with the pool side staff who might as well not be there – I have witnessed many incidents some potentially dangerous none of which were noticed by the pool staff, when these incidents were pointed out there was still no recognition at all apart from mild incredulity. The reception staff are similarly dull witted and respond to most queries with an open mouth and a blank far away look. This has improved over the past 18 months I would say, prior to that the standard of customer service was appalling, now it is barely satisfactory. A shame because it could be a very decent budget facility.

Have to agree with jrennie. I only put up with it as it's the cheapest membership around to include unlimited gym/swim/classes. But saying that i still think i'm entitled to complain and have done for the several years I have been a member! To little effect I must add. The pool is always very cold which isn't good when you're doing an aqua class and you cramp up before you've even started! The aqua floats are obviously used by children (or hungry adults) as they have large chunks bitten out of them. The mats in the studio stink of sweat and as far as i'm aware are never disinfected or cleaned....i take my own mat to classes. The car park is a joke, too few spaces for the people using it. I've often been late to classes as i've been driving around the car park looking for a space only to give up and park in Tesco. The frequently changing cancellation policy is also very frustrating, to cancel a class you have to call before 9am that day or you will be charged for not attending. I work in Aylesbury but often get to work to be told i'm needed at another site in London so on this basis would be charged for not attending my class. The previous policy of being allowed to cancel up until 2hrs before the class was far more sensible. I'm assuming a lot of people (especially members) are just as frustrated with this policy and instead don't book but just turn up for classes on the off chance they'll get in. I attended a class on Saturday which should have a maximum of 20 people which had 29, I can understand why people are doing this but it's annoying for people like myself that has booked and then has to endure an overcrowded class.
Generally the aquavale is poorly maintained, dirty (poolside and the changing areas are always dirty with muddy, slimey floors) but cheap! I suppose you get what you pay for!

The above reviews must have been either written by staff members or people that have been paid to give good reviews. The main pool is always cold and uncomfortable to initially get into, most evenings the general public swimmers are cramped into 2 lanes as all the other lanes are used by swimming clubs/private swim lessons or aqua excercises this makes it difficult to swim without hitting swimmers coming in the opposite direction, the bubble spas are very rarely working and the flume is only open at certain times, in the childrens pool your forever fishing bits out of the water ie paper/ear plugs or anything else that goes floating by, the showers are often littererd with shampoo/shower gel containers, the life guards are either half asleep or are having loud conversations with each other from one end of the pool to the other. the only nice thing about it is the open air pool but this is so small it gets very cramped at times.
All this for £4.75!!! Just as well l cant afford to go it too often.

Yes aquavale has the flumes, the lazy river etc but i find taking the family to aquavale expensive. its not a cheap day out. was shocked at how expensive it can be for adults as moving from another town were swimming was cheaper price shocked me.

there is a kids entertainment night every saturday called “Nightwave” thats not a bad night for 8 to 14 yr olds they get a cookie or something included in the price.

Parking is free for 2 hours in the parking if you can get a space but beware you can get a ticket if you over the 2 hours even in the mothercare car park round the corner if you excide the 2 hours.

This centre has a lot to offer, with a fitness centre above the main pool, and a series of leisure pools. They operate a timing system for pool sessions which is based on coloured bands given to you upon entry. Not too sure how vigilant they are in enforcing this?
The pool changing are can sometimes be a bit messy and it can be difficult to find a cubicle at busy times. Lockers take £1 coin (refundable).
The main pool is a good size and is pleasant for those who enjoy the monotony of swimming up and down.
There is a toddler pool, which is nice and shallow, and has a couple of slides.
The leisure pools are great for kids. There is a slide which is good fun for older ones and the more fearless little ones. The leisure pools are all interconnected, with a circular pool which has a stong current that pushes you around. There is also year round access to an outdoor pool, which in the winter months can be quite invigourating.
Parking can be a bit of a pain, but park around the corner by Mothercare and its free for up to 2hours.

A good sized swimming pool for the more serious swimmer; an outdoor pool; a baby pool and the lazy river make Aquavale a great place to go. Obviously gets very busy during holiday time and the car park isn’t up to the job. There are a number of swimming lessons that can be done. In addition, there is a gym and a number of fitness classes.
