THE place to go to avoid the showers this summer is a wonderful exhibition at Obsidian Art Gallery in Stoke Mandeville.
The Summer Show has painting, prints, sculpture and glassware - from local scenes to beach scenes, and from animals to abstracts.

The selected artists include several local people, as well as talent from further afield. Local artists taking part in this show include Patricia Lynch, Brenda Hurley, Roni and Keith Wilkins, and Sue Fawthrop.

Artists invited to exhibit from further afield include Kathy Ramsay Carr who paints wonderful, large, vibrant, contemporary beach and seascapes.

Kathy lived and worked for a number of years in Mexico but now lives in Devon, working in a studio with a view of Dartmoor. Kathy says of her work, "My paintings are composed of fragments from memories, implemented by the use of my imagination in order to find ways of using colour and composition in the landscape as a powerful means of communicating the emotion I feel in these solitary and peaceful places."

Also exhibiting at Obsidian Art for the first time is sculptor Carlos Dare, who makes unique animals sculptures from panels of aluminium. Ideally suited to complement an outdoor space, his work has recently been featured at Hampton Court Garden Show. The show continues until August 10, and there is sure to be something for everyone, don't miss it.
