Players perform the Winslow story
ORIGINALLY written and performed as a Millennium Project, The Winslow Story has been up-dated for 2008 and will be presented, by a cast of 23, as the concluding production of the Winslow Players 40th anniversary season.
The documentary covers the history of Winslow in a series of thumb-nail sketches from the time of King Offa, 780 A.D. to the present day, the short scenes linked with narration.
It sets out to depict some of the historical events which have shaped this small market town and which have affected its inhabitants (a town because it was granted a Market Charter in 1235).
The scenes encompass the whole range of human emotions.
Music for the play has been specially written by Mike Wilding, which adds greatly to the atmosphere of the play with its variety of costumes and moods.
The Winslow Story, devised, written and directed by Chris Chapman, will be performed in Winslow Public Hall tomorrow (Thursday, May 8 priced £ 4.50), Friday (May 9 priced £ 6/£ 4.50) and Saturday (May 10 priced £6), all commencing at 8pm.
Tickets will be available on the door, with seating at tables. Bar opens 7.30pm.
