Eddie and the Hot Roads join Hobble on the Cobbles 2008

STILL riding high on the back of the successful "Hobble on the Cobbles" free live-music festivals, which saw John Otway's return to the Market Square stage after 28 years in 2006, and FiSH and Marillion sharing the same stage in 2007, Aylesbury Showcase have announced they will be putting together another festival in August 2008.
The date is scheduled for August 24 and a number of bands have already started submitting their application forms in the hope they will be selected to perform on the main stage this summer in Market Square, Aylesbury.
Once again, Aylesbury Showcase has partnered up with local radio station 'Mix 96' and online media channel 'BucksTV' for extensive promotional and media coverage of the event. Once again 'Class Act' will be organising and running the sound stages and 'Aylesbury Music' will sponsor and supply the backline. Aylesbury Showcase will once again be working with and on behalf of the 'Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership. In addition, Aylesbury Showcase are proud to announce Eddie & The Hot Rods have already confirmed to headline this event, which attracted over 5000 people last summer.
Aylesbury Showcase organiser and Jam Central Records' managing director Stuart Robb explained: "We're very excited Eddie & The Hot Rods have confirmed to be involved in this great event, and we hope the public will continue to support Hobble on the Cobbles as they have the past two years.
"We felt inviting Eddie & The Hot Rods onto this festival works so well on so many different levels, as not only are they a very well known and successful band in their own right, they have an affinity with Aylesbury as they were regular performers at the famous Friars Club throughout its hey-day.
"In addition to that, Eddie & The Hot Rods captures the essence of what we are trying to achieve with Hobble on the Cobbles; i.e. bringing 'back' quality and popular live music to Aylesbury, supporting the local bands whilst at the same time allowing the music fans and gig-goers (who also remember Hobble on the Cobbles first time round) to be involved in such a nostalgic and now important popular local event.
Mr Robb's business partner and fellow Aylesbury Showcase organiser Dennis Hall added: "It was always going to be a difficult job to choose our next headline band following the massive success and the 'once in a lifetime' event of last summer… as we literally recreated history with FISH and Marillion performing "Market Square Heroes" (their debut single) in Market Square… but we feel Eddie and The Hot Rods are exciting and popular enough to step up to the mark for 2008".
Stuart Robb continued:
"With three hit albums and four top forty UK hit singles, including the top-ten hit "Do Anything You Wanna Do", these rockers will certainly put on a great show and with the rest of the line-up slowly coming together – it really will be another fantastic day out for the residents and music fans of Aylesbury".
Rachel Faulkner, the Aylesbury Town Centre Manager said "The Town Centre Partnership is delighted to be supporting Hobble on the Cobbles again in 2008. We are really lucky to be able to put on free events right in the heart of the town – I am sure this one will be another great success".
Bands wanting to perform at the festival must complete and submit the application form, which can be downloaded from the official Aylesbury Showcase website: AylesburyShowcase.co.uk
Bands who complete the application form are not guaranteed a slot on the main stage, however if they are talented, exciting, hard working and dedicated, then Aylesbury Showcase will certainly listen to all entries and take each band into consideration.
