MORE than 250 young musicians from Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire have been invited to perform at The National Festival of Music For Youth in Birmingham.
The event opens on Monday July 7, runs for six days and spans a huge range of genres and repertoire, involving over 10,000 inspiring young musicians.
The festival line-up includes talent ranging from choirs, orchestras, steel bands, pop and urban groups, music theatre groups, jazz bands and many more performing almost every possible style of music.
Performances take place in front of live audiences in Birmingham's most impressive venues. An outdoor music stage links up the entire festival and is a crucial part of the celebrations, providing the local community with free entertainment throughout the six days.
Local groups involved include the Aylesbury Music Centre Brass Band, Encienda (a Jazz Combo from Aylesbury), the High Wycombe Music Centre Guitar Consort, Turnfurlong Jazz and Waddesdon Village Primary School.
The Aylesbury Music Centre Brass Band, conductor Kathy Gifford, are aged 11 to 19 and have previously been award winners at the National Festival of Music for Youth.
Eleven members of AMC Brass Band appeared in the Warner Brothers movie - Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire! They featured as the Hogwarts Brass Band playing an amazing collection of special Hogwarts instruments. For the full programme visit: www.mfy.org.uk
