Aylesbury born Aaron is heading to Cannes
AYLESBURY born Aaron Sayers will be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous at the Cannes Film Festival in a few weeks time, when he goes there to promote his first feature film, Jack Says.
Described by Aaron as a noir flick, Jack Says follows the eponymous hero after he wakes up in London with amnesia next to a dead body. Jack has just enough time and sense to disappear and, in an attempt to lay low, he heads to Paris.
The film's cast includes both French and British talent including Eric Cantona, Rula Lenska and the late Mike Reid, who sadly died during principle filming.
Aaron Sayers grew up in Aylesbury and went to Broughton First and Middle Schools, followed by The Grange, where he had his first taste of acting.
When he left school, although a fan of film and theatre, a career in show business didn't seem likely, so instead he joined the army at the age of 16. His regiment was the Royal Green Jackets. Serving as a Rifleman and promoted to Lance Corporal when he was 19, he actively served on operational tours of Bosnia, Kosovo and Northern Ireland.
Aaron enjoyed the life and made many friends, but is particularly grateful to the Army for giving him the ambition, drive and leadership skills to actively pursue a career in film.
His next stop was the University of Portsmouth for a degree, combined with some theatre work on the amateur circuit. Here Aaron met Toby Meredith and together they set up Kalimasu Productions, initially for theatre work.
Jack Says is the first Kalimasu film, but a second, A Pathless Destiny, is already in the pipeline - for more about the films, check out www.kalimasu.co.uk
Of his success, Aaron says that he is ambitious, "I didn't foresee having my first feature film on general release at 26, and to be making my feature film directorial debut at 27".
