AYLESBURY Civic Centre is still with us, at least until February 2009 and with any luck for a while longer. The Autumn programme is a very varied one, with something for everybody - or nearly everybody as those yet to buy a ticket to see Oxford punk-funksters Foals on Saturday, September 27, are gong to be disappointed as it has already sold out.
There is plenty more music on the programme however, including a blast of nostalgia with Rockin on Heaven's Door on Saturday October 4. This show delivers spookily convincing portrayals of rock'n'roll greats: Presley, Orbison, Holly, Cochran and The Big Bopper.

Fans of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, will be well aware of his cheeky house band, 4 Poofs and a Piano.

The boys are on their first national tour, promising an eclectic mix of song and dance, from jaunty re-workings of classic covers to their own comic observations of life in the noughties. Catch them on Saturday October 25.

Folk addicts won't want to miss Barnsley's Kate Rusby, in concert at the Civic on Sunday November 9.

Renowned for her her wit, charm and effervescent folk credentials, she'll be singing a spellbinding set of Rusby classics and brand-new songs from her latest album Awkward Annie.

Comedy features in the programme and first up is Jason Manford on Saturday September 20.

The multi-award winning Comedian and star of 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo, and XFM, embarks on his first live national tour with an exciting and hilarious show.

Friday October 3 sees the return of Comedy Room, an evening of rib-tickling comedy with some of the best up-and-coming comedians on the London circuit.

For children, there is multi-award winning magician and ventriloquist Magic Dave on Saturday September 20, and on Saturday October 18, a visit from the DaSilva Marionette Circus.

If you like dance you won't want to miss Vienna Festival Ballet's Tchaikovsky Gala on Tuesday October 28. This is an evening of highlights from the best known Tchaikovsky ballets, including extracts from Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker.

The season at the Civic is rounded off with the annual panto, opening on Thursday December 11 and running until January 24. This year it is Cinderella, starring one of the craziest visual comedians in the business, Bernie Clifton.

This is just a selection of the upcoming shows at the Civic - contact them on 01296 486009, online at www.aylesbury civic.org, or call in for more information.
