An evening with Gervase Phinn at the Oxford Playhouse
AN EVENING with Gervase Phinn will be at Oxford Playhouse on Friday July 18 at 5pm.
Phinn shares his hilarious tales in a brand new show about life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales. One of Britain's most popular writers and performers, Gervase Phinn is best known for his five autobiographical novels: The Other Side of the Dale, Over Hill and Dale, Head Over Heels in the Dales and Up and Down in the Dales and The Heart of the Dales.
With his keen ear for the absurd and sharp eye for the ludicrous, Gervase Phinn has delighted audiences all over the UK with stories of his experiences as a school inspector. His shows have received rave reviews and sold out all across the country and with good reason: he is an accomplished public speaker and a natural storyteller, who combines the timing of the professional comedian with the ability to deliver a message that is more than just a series of jokes.
Before becoming an education adviser and school inspector he taught in a range of schools for over 14 years. He is now a freelance lecturer, broadcaster and writer, a consultant for the Open University, Honorary Fellow at St John's College, York and the Fellow and Visiting Professor of Education at The University of Teeside. He has published many articles, chapters and books and edited a wide range of poetry and short story collections.
