THE Antiques Roadshow is one of Britain's best-loved television shows and also one of the longest running - the next series to be screen will be the 31st.
Now two of its most popular experts, Hilary Kay and Paul Atterbury, are taking part in a unique stage show about the programme, aptly entitled Have you had it long, madam?

Hilary and Paul take theatre audiences on an affectionate tour through life on the filming circuit, telling the behind-the-scenes stories about the Sunday evening favourite.

"When you see a finished programme, it is like an iceberg", says Hilary, "much more goes on under the surface than above. Paul and I will be shining a light on what lies beneath.

"When we arrive at a location to film, there's a wonderful atmosphere of anticipation. The experts get as excited as the general public at the thought of making that special discovery. Between us, we will see perhaps ten thousand items in a day and everyone is searching for the 30 or so great objects that will eventually be filmed."

Have you had it long, madam? allows Paul and Hilary the perfect opportunity to share with theatre audiences what they enjoy doing most, and to present some of their favourite stories and most memorable experiences from working on both sides of the TV cameras, including priceless film clips - some of questionable taste and suitability.
"We shall be exposing some of the experts' hilarious exploits", says Paul, "and also revealing how the programme is put together, no doubt exploding some myths in the process."

Have you had it long, madam? will be at the Oxford Playhouse on Wednesday July 23 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the box office on 01865 305305.
