Quetion Time: “I’d like to work with endangered species.”

Aylesbury Waterside's Alison Trimming

This week’s subject is Alison Trimming who is marketing and press assistant at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre

What’s your earliest memory?

Having an asthma attack live on stage whilst playing the lead role of Mary in my first school nativity play. I’ve opted to work behind the scenes now and leave the stage to the pros!

What do you wish they’d taught you at school, but didn’t? Common sense.

Ignore what you’re doing now – if you could do any job in the world, what would it be and why?

I’d like to work with endangered species. It’d be amazing to see a species remain on the planet that otherwise would’ve become extinct. Of all the places you’ve been in your life, which would you recommend to a stranger?

Glastonbury Festival! I braved it for the first time last year, and despite hating camping, the atmosphere was out of this world...hence I’m doing it all again this year! It was surreal to see so many people of so many different ages enjoying the same experience.

If you could pass one new law tomorrow, what would it be and why?

I’d love to pass a three-day weekend. I’ve been spoilt with the recent bank hols!

You can invite three people – living or dead, from any period – round for dinner. Who are they and why?

Shakespeare, because I studied him lots at uni and would love to discuss his success, Jedward (I’m counting them as one) for entertainment value, and Alan Sugar (to keep Jedward in check!)

If you were stuck on Death Row, what would you pick for your final meal?

Probably party food so I could keep picking at it to keep my mind off of my impending death!... sausage rolls, pizza, cheese and pineapple on sticks, scotch eggs, pink wafers – you name it, I’ll have it!

And if you could write your own epitaph or come up with famous last words in advance, what would you pick?

This is difficult, I’d probably let my friends choose one of my many nonsensical Ali-isms. I’m famous in the office for many ‘think-before-you-speak’ comments!

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

To change the barcodes on all the clothes I want to make them affordable!

How do you relax?

Body combat and body pump – some might think I have a strange idea of relaxing!

What’s your greatest fear? I’m not keen on snakes, and weirdly I have a phobia of cats looking in at me from outside at night!

What was the last little treat you bought for yourself, or someone else?

An airbed as an essential luxury to help me get through five nights at Glastonbury!

If you had to give up something tomorrow, what would you find it hardest to live without?

Friends and family – they’re probably the thing I take most for granted, yet most highly value. I never tell them that of course – they should read the Bucks Advertiser!

What’s the most important lesson that life has taught you so far?

Never to underestimate people; some of the most fascinating people are the ones overlooked.

If you could leap forward to the year 2050, what would you expect, or hope to find there?

Scarily I’d have retired by then so I’d like to think there would be plenty of provisions for elderly folk. A miracle drug to keep me supple and active would be good! I’d hate to lose my mobility. Less world conflict – it’s awful to see lives being risked and lost on a daily basis.

Websites you use/value the most.

www.pimpthatsnack.com is well worth a look for people that like snacks and www.miniclip.com has some fun teatime games!

Favourite places to eat (within 20 miles of Aylesbury).

China Brasserie – Fairford Leys, The Bugle Horn – Stone and Chimichanga – MK.

You’re taking friends or family out for the day, but you can’t go more than 20 miles from Aylesbury. What’s your recommendation and why?

The Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, obviously! Closely followed by Waddesdon Manor.

What’s your best kept entertainment or social life secret, or guilty pleasure?

I’m not a teenager or a mum but I love the programme Teen Mom! My social life secret is I’m soon to go llama trekking.!

Which person in the public eye would you most like to meet and why?

Kate Middleton – I would get some tips on how to appear elegant and glamorous 24/7

What do you go out of your way to avoid?

Miserable people, moaners and pessimists – life’s too short.

Always leave them laughing – so please tell us a joke

Why was Cinderella rubbish at football?

Because she had a pumpkin for a coach!
