ROBBERS escaped on bicycles with a haul of smartphones after targeting a shop in Aylesbury town centre on Friday evening.

At around 6pm, two men wearing scarves over their faces went into the Carphone Warehouse shop in the Cambridge Street retail park and threatened a member of staff unless he handed over the contents of the safe.

The two men took cash and around 40 smartphones in boxes before making their escape on bicycles.

They are both described as white, possibly teenaged, around 5ft 9in. One had a black and white striped scarf covering the lower part of his face and the other had a black scarf covering his mouth.

Both wore black hoodies pulled tight around their heads and they wore gloves. They made off on what appeared to be black BMX style bikes.

Det Con Natalie Golding of Amersham CID, investigating officer, said: “This was a nasty experience for the shop worker, thankfully he wasn’t hurt but was shocked.

"The two offenders would have made off on bikes with a lot of boxes, so we would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Cambridge Street area around this time to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Golding via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101. If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
