Aylesbury murder trial latest: ‘Blood found on husband’s shoes’
THREE tiny bloodstains matching tragic Aylesbury mother Zarina Bibi were found on a pair of shoes belonging to her husband, a court has heard.
Mohammed Tariq Aziz, 45, is accused of killing his wife at the couple’s Glaven Road home in March last year.
On Friday, Reading Crown Court was also told that a bloodstained kitchen stool found close to Mrs Bibi’s body ‘might have’ been the murder weapon.
Two forensic scientists agreed that the tiny spots of blood on Mr Aziz’s shoes – each measuring less than 1mm – were airborne when they landed.
But neither could confirm whether the blood hit the shoes during the brutal attack which killed her.
Mrs Bibi was found lying between the hallway and the kitchen of her home on March 16, 2011.
She had suffered nine severe blows to the head.
Forensic scientist Jessica Andrews told the court that it was impossible to state how the blood had got onto the shoes, which were shown to the court, and when it had happened.
Fellow forensic scientist Roy Green, who specialises in blood staining and distribution, told the court: “There was copious bloodstaining in the kitchen in the area where Mrs Bibi had been lying, some of it had spread into the hallway.”
He said he was unable to rule on whether a kitchen stool, which was found close to Mrs Bibi’s body, had been the murder weapon.
Mr Green said: “I went to a murder scene once where a coffee cup was the murder weapon, which is why I need to look at what it might have been.
“This is why it might have been the stool.”
The forensic scientist told the court there was no conclusive sign that Mrs Bibi’s attacker had attempted to clean up blood elsewhere in the house.
Mr Green said: “It’s possible to carry out an attack without being bloodstained at all, but in this case I think it’s unlikely.”
Taxi driver Mr Aziz denies murder.
The trial continues.
