Kayleigh breaks into a traditionally male dominated line of work
IT may traditionally be a male dominated line of work, but Aylesbury training firm Sivatech has given one young woman the skills to get a job as a fork lift truck driver.
Sivatech joined forces with The Prince's Trust to provide training to 20-year-old Kayleigh Sledziewski.
She is the first candidate from The Princes Trust to undertake forklift training at the Gatehouse Close company, helped by the trust's Development Award, a small cash grant enabling her to take part in the course.
Chyrryl Laird, Executive Assistant at Sivatech, said they would be continuing to support the Prince's Trust in providing further discounted training in forklift and other courses.
She continued: "By the time Kayleigh had finished here she already had two jobs lined up to go to, so it has been worthwhile."
"Forklift truck driving is still male dominated, we have only had two ladies train with us," she added.
"But our instructor says we actually drive the truck better than men, women are more attentive and less destructive."
