1st Aston Clinton Guides. Last week our theme was 'water' - something we all take for granted. We talked about how women and children in the Third World spend up to six hours every day carrying water. We thought about how much water we use in a day, and how we would save it if we had to carry it ourselves.

We then had a relay race transferring water from one bucket to another using various containers, including a sandwich bag and a balloon! We finished by making a water clock and tested the teams to see which clock most accurately timed five minutes. One team got to within six seconds which was pretty accurate considering the crude building materials they were given.

Aston Clinton School Association. The Summer Fete is on Saturday June 23 from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be a live band , barbecue, café, bouncy castles, beat the goalie, childrens and adults tombola, grand raffle, hair styling, paint a flower pot, balloon release race and lots more.

Entrance is with a lucky programme and costs 20p, under 11's are free. If you need any more contact Sarah Pratt on 07879 471241.

Mobile Library. The mobile library van will next visit the village on Friday June 15 at the school from 2.50pm to 3.35pm. The following visit will be on Thursday June 21 at Twitchell Lane from 6.05pm to 6.25pm and then at Long Plough from 6.30pm to 7.10pm.
