Bill Chapple is the district councillor for Aston Clinton and he has come out in that capacity against proposals for an energy from waste incinerator in the village. However, he is also the deputy leader of Bucks County Council and in a letter to Martin Tett, cabinet member for planning and waste, he said he was not writing the letter in this position. Early in the consultation process, Mr Chapple spoke at a meeting to highlight the threat of an incinerator close to Aston Clinton and inform the public about what could be built on their doorstep. In his letter he objects to the proposal on eight counts including the location, haulage routes, future potential for the site and environmental impact.

Mr Chapple said in the letter that he was unaware of specific locations for preferred sites until June when the information was made public.

Nigel Hayward, chairman of campaign group, said: “As far as saying no to the proposal, we warmly welcome Bill Chapple’s support. However, it would also be helpful if he could come out and proclaim his position under the county council banner.”
