A plan for councils and other authorities in Buckinghamshire to share 'back office' work to save cash and cut jobs is teetering on the edge after two key players pulled out.
Aylesbury Vale District Council has backed out of the £450 million plan, part of a scheme called pathfinder, over fears that hundreds of jobs could be exported not just out of the county, but abroad.
Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire and Rescue Service has also said it will no longer be taking part because of concerns over the cost.
Bucks County Council still supports the plan - even thoguh it would mean jobs done for all the local authorities involved would be shipped abroad or out of the county.
Meanshile public sector workers' union Unison has discovered that £1.2 million of taxpayers' cash has already been spent on the initiative.
